Modern Rattan Sofa with Crossed Back Panels and Sweeping Arms

The Woodland Sofa is a modern rattan sofa built from all natural poles in clean, straight lines. Three X panels run across the back, the arms sweep down from the back posts in long curves, and diagonal braces tie the base together.

Three seat cushions and three back cushions fill the frame, shown here in cream, and you choose the fabric. Designer Wicker pitches Woodland for everything from modern lofts to mountain ski chalets, and the deep brown poles suit both.

The arm chair and the Woodland Ottoman share the sofa's dark poles and braced base. Add one or both for a full seating group, or see more from the Designer Wicker collection.

Three X Panels Across the Back

Turn the sofa around and the back is as finished as the front, with poles crossed in an X behind each seat. Below the X panels, short uprights divide a lower rail into small sections.

That makes it easy to float the sofa in an open room or use it to divide a loft into a living area and a dining area.

Sweeping Arm from the Side

From the side, each arm starts at the top of the back post and curves down to the front leg, ending in a rounded cap. Under the seat, stacked rails and diagonal braces carry the line down to the floor.

It's the same profile as the Woodland Rattan Arm Chair, stretched out to seat three.

Rattan Pole Joints Up Close

This close view shows the mottled brown surface of the poles and the way the arm meets the crossed back. The natural growth rings along each pole are still visible under the finish.

Woodland Sofa Care and Maintenance

Vacuum the poles, braces and X panels with a brush attachment to keep dust out of the joints. If the frame needs washing, use mild soap or Murphy's Oil Soap and water, rinse, and let it dry thoroughly. It's an indoor piece, so keep it out of the weather. Vacuum the cushions regularly; acrylic covers can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth or unzipped for a cold, delicate wash, and cotton covers are professional dry clean only.
